Do you hate writing bios, picking photos and sending messages out into the void? Would you rather just meet someone face to face? Great! Flutter is for you. This new dating app approaches the act of meeting new people by presenting video clips of yourself, similar to Snapchat. Once you both confirm interest, you can then video or text chat. And the team behind this new dating app just won Best Design at the 2016 LAUNCH festival.

Profiles 7

A profile in the standard sense doesn’t exist on this platform, only a collection of video clips that you shoot yourself. This is similar to how Snapchat works. Using video helps you verify the true look of each match. No hiding behind an ancient profile pic.

Matching 8

You are served up matches based on location and your distance and age range filters. One after the next, each match comes rapid fire.

You’ll see a series of video clips from the potential match’s front-facing cell phone camera. Be prepared for the occasional shirtless dude in bed. (Yes, some guys still believe this is putting their best foot forward.)

Filters 8

In addition to the standard distance and age range filters, you will soon be able to “Teleport” to a different location for 99 cents. Flutter also provides video filters for your clips like you would find on Instagram.

Communication 7

Once both users approve of each other’s video clips, then Flutter allows users to video or text chat.

Value 8

The app is free, and will soon allow users to Teleport to other locations for a 99 cent in-app charge. It appears Flutter is nicely positioned to corner a good portion of the online dating audience. If you appreciate the immediacy of seeing your match as they are in the moment, this app is for you!
